What is Planted Community Hub, and what is the background of this project?
Planted is a volunteer-supported café, loose-food refill shop, and community hub located at 197 London Road, Charlton Kings, GL52 GHU, which opened on 27th February 2024.
Situated at Sixways, Planted is a welcoming space for the Charlton Kings community to gather, connect, create and participate in various activities. The hub is a collaborative project developed by Vision 21, Poco Culina, and Charlton Kings Parish Council (CKPC) to foster community engagement and connection.
Vision 21, with its 30-year track record in creating and supporting sustainability and community projects, brings a wealth of experience in driving positive social impact. Poco Culina, a well-established vegan café, not only operates as a commercial enterprise but also provides employment, volunteering opportunities, and draws its network of dedicated customers to Planted. CKPC, which serves a large parish, helps ensure that this hub connects with residents in the northern parts of the parish. Located on London Road, the hub is a lively spot for residents to learn about local activities and feel more connected.
Poco Culina's income supports Vision 21's community initiatives, while funding from CKPC and grants enable Planted to host a range of community-focused activities, such as children's holiday events, craft workshops, book groups, and talks. This partnership leverages each organisation's strengths to create and sustain a truly community-focused space—partnership in action!

For some workshops that require materials or specialised expertise, a small fee may apply. Planted ensures costs are kept as low as possible to keep activities accessible for all our residents.

Community Fridge
We're excited to announce that a new ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ ๐ will open at Planted CK Community Café ๐จ๐ง ๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐๐๐ฒ, ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ซ!
This Hubbub fridge will reduce food waste by redistributing surplus food across Charlton Kings, promoting solidarity over charity.
๐๐ก๐๐ญ'๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐ข๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ง๐ญ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ? Just 30 minutes of your time to help with vital checks and keeping the fridge clean. A volunteer network with an online rota will be set up.

Tuesday - Saturday: 9:30am-4:00pm | Sunday & Monday Closed
Planted has cycle parking for 4 bikes in front of the shop and is on the B, P & Q bus routes. Sixways car park is directly opposite with 4 hours FREE parking.
